FAIL - FORSAKE

Write From My Heart

FAIL  to be insufficient in reaching a desired outcome

FORSAKE  to leave; abandon

1 Chronicles 28:20 (NIV) David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.”

First we must place this passage into proper context. King David was chosen by the LORD to be King of Israel and in that capacity he served the LORD faithfully. But it was not King David who was selected to be the builder of the LORD’s temple. David gathered supplies in preparation for this sacred building, but it was David’s son Solomon who would be the one to carry the plans to completion. It would be a monumental task with careful attention given to every detail.

The likelihood of you or me being called to serve as a king probably lies in the range of zero to none. The likelihood of you or me being called to build a temple or church structure of any type has the same probability. Yet make no mistake—God definitely has a desired outcome for your life and for mine. God will never leave nor abandon his faithful ones. So the question each of us must ask is this, What is God leading or prompting me to do for him? If I am faithful in doing the work—whatever it may be—then I have the calm assurance that God will be with me.

1 Chronicles 28:10  Be strong and do the work.

Psalm 33:11  But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

Psalm 71:18  Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.

Proverbs 16:3  Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Ephesians 2:10  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Philippians 1:6  …being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:23-24  Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
