FEAR—Part Four: reason for alarm

Deuteronomy 5:26 (KJV)  O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Proverbs 8:13 (NIV) To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Deuteronomy 32:35, 36, 39, 41 (NIV) It is mine to avenge; I will repay. … The LORD will judge his people. … See now that I myself am HE! There is no god besides me. … I will take vengeance on my adversaries and repay those who hate me.

Romans 2:5-6, 8  (NIV) But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God will give to each person according to what he has done. … But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

Ponder this: There is a reason to sound the alarm to all people of every nation—especially family, neighbors, and friends. The day of God’s vengeance and wrath will be unleashed upon those who refused to accept God’s saving grace—those who thought they could do it on their own without the need for a Savior—those who ignored God’s commands. Perhaps King Solomon said it best:

Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NIV) Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter; Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
