Proclaim His Salvation

1 Chronicles 16:23-24  Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

Whether working or retired, if you are a Christian you are still actively employed and you have a job description to fulfill no matter what your age or physical status might be. Wow! Now that’s a thought for the day! We are God’s people and it is incumbent upon us to proclaim God’s glory to the world beginning in our own homes, neighborhoods, cities and radiating outward. In scientific terms it is called the ripple effect. Even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting impact on others.

As an interesting side note, I often follow the devotional writings of Dr. Joe Barnett, “Today’s Walk in the Word” posted by Pathways Evangelism, Inc. Often he concludes his daily messages with a catchy phrase that sticks with his readers throughout the day. Recently he wrote:

“…don’t get so wrapped up in what you are against that no one knows what you are for.”

As I thought about that statement, I thought this is what often prevents us from proclaiming his salvation day after day (v. 23). We are so inundated with the negativity of social media, politics, woke-isms, and the like that we lose our focus. We can tell anyone (whether they ask or not) what we do not like and what we are against, yet how often do we share with someone what, or rather Whom, we are for?

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Once again we come to you mindful of our inadequacies and failings. How seldom we share your gospel message with others. Forgive us we pray. Create in us a willing heart and confidence to proclaim your Name boldly to those whom you place in our paths. Let us tell others about your glory and marvelous deeds, and about our joyful anticipation of your soon return.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
