He Is Not Far

Acts 17:26-28 (NIV)  “From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ ”

From Adam to earth’s population today—billions and billions of people have come and gone since the creation of mankind. Nations arise and nations fall. Through battles and wars, nations gain territories and nations lose territories. Our own nation, America, began as a group searching for land where they could worship the Lord their God in freedom. Tragically, it didn’t take long for seeking God, reaching out to God, and finding God to become less and less of a priority in our land. And yet here we are today—still seeking, still reaching, and thankfully still finding. For you see, God never went anywhere; he is still here, and he is not far from any of us.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your presence. You have not abandoned your creation. We need only look to you for repentance and forgiveness. Thank you for your mercy.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
