Today is a Special Day

Psalm 118:24 (NLT)  This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. How blessed we are to commemorate the resurrection of our blessed Savior. Jesus Christ is the reason we can be forgiven of our sins, failures, wrong attitudes, and anything else that would disrupt our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ is the reason we have the promise of a future hope and eternal life. Jesus Christ is the reason we anticipate the future. For most of us, yesterday was a wonderful day of celebration.

Today is a special day. Today is the day you can forget past mistakes and errors because you are cleansed by the blood of our Savior. You don’t have to dredge up the past anymore. You’re forgiven in Christ.

Today is a special day. Today is the day you no longer need to fear or worry about the future. Your Heavenly Father loves and cares deeply for his faithful ones and he will never forsake nor abandon you. His Spirit dwells within you to comfort and guide you through days yet to come.

Today is a special day. Today is the only one of its kind and there will never be another one just like it. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet arrived. Today is a special day. Today has been given to you as a gift from your Heavenly Father. Will you rejoice in it? Will you be glad in it? Today is a special day. What will you do with your special gift called “today”?

Gracious Heavenly Father,

We are thankful for the gift of salvation through the life and death of your Son, Jesus Christ. Your gracious gift allows us to move on from the past. We are thankful for the promise of eternal life through the resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ. Your gracious gift allows us to anticipate a glorious future. We are thankful for the gift of your Spirit to comfort and guide us. Your gracious gift allows us to navigate through the ups and downs of life with calm assurance. And, Gracious Heavenly Father, we are thankful for the gift of today. We rejoice and are glad! And now we humbly ask that you help us to use your gift of today wisely.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
