Trust in the Lord

The Problem:

Jeremiah 17:5, 9  This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD. … The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

The Solution:

Jeremiah 17:10  I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.

The Response:

Jeremiah 17:7, 14  But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. … Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

There are times when no additional words seem necessary. The problem is sin and a heart that turns away from the LORD. The solution is found when the LORD searches each heart. The response is trust in the LORD for he is the one who saves.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Your Word is so clear. Forgive the deceitfulness of our heart; forgive our failure to seek you. Thank you for your mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Guide us as we trust in you for all things.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
