Grace When We Need It Most

2 Thessalonians 2:14-15 (NLT)
He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 (NLT)
For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

Hebrews 4:14-16 (NLT)
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Three different passages of scriptures from three different books of the Bible; and yet, when read them as a single unit it tells a wonderful message of hope and grace. At some time in our lives, whether in our youth or adulthood, we heard the Good News of what Christ did on our behalf. When we first believed we were filled with joy accompanied by the release of guilt from any past wrongdoings. Yet it came with a caution: Hold fast! Keep a strong grip! Hold firmly to what you believe! No matter what our troubles or struggles might be, our Savior Jesus Christ understands, and he intercedes on our behalf to God our Heavenly Father.

NOTE: Right about now the naysayers are claiming that Jesus never had to deal with COVID-19. That may be correct since many illnesses and diseases have developed over the last 2,000 years. However I would be bold enough to say not many of us have had to deal with leprosy or some of the earlier plagues, either! So nit-picking and word play aside—the plain truth is that Jesus truly does understand our struggles, especially when it comes to our weaknesses. Yet he did not give in, and he did not sin in any way.

We often face temptations to quit, give up, or believe all hope is gone. Jesus understands. He is interceding on your behalf. So take courage! Keep a strong grip! Our gracious God is ready to send his grace and mercy just when we need it the most!
