Show Me the
Right Path
Psalm 25:4-10
(NLT)
Show me the
right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth
and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in
you. Remember, O LORD your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown
from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember
me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O LORD. The LORD
is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go
astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The LORD
leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey
his demands.
This passage is a little longer than
the ones I typically use, but it is a passage I return to often. It is a
message that recognizes the unfailing love and compassion of our Heavenly
Father. It acknowledges our sinful nature and all the mistakes of the past. It is
a request to our Heavenly Father for forgiveness, guidance, and direction. It
is a reminder to be humble—not self-debasing—but humble of heart. It is a call
to obedience and steadfastness. And, it is a promise of God’s faithfulness. The
LORD is good! He is the One who can show us the right path.
