He Knows the Way That I Take

Job 11:7-9  Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below—what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.

Job's friends were not terribly comforting although their intentions were good. Zophar the Naamathite posed these questions to Job; and I must admit they are questions that still challenge us today. The truth is that none of us can truly fathom the mysteries of God for he transcends all; and none of us can fully probe or understand any conceivable limitations, for with God there are none. Job comprehended this and much later in the conversation with his friends he responded:

Job 23:8-10  But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him. When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him. But he knows the way that I take…

We may not fully understand God ways, his power, his infinite qualities but we can be certain that God knows us. God fully understands each and every moment of our life whether it be joy or sorrow, peace or stress. He knows how each moment of ours weaves into the lives of others. What a comfort we have that our Heavenly Father knows, and has always known, the fabric of who we are.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

In our seasons of doubt, uncertainty, stress, or despair; remind us that you are always in control. You are always present and we are not alone, lost or abandoned. We are safe and secure when we trust fully and completely in you.
