Be Still

Psalm 46:10  Be still and know that I am God.

Our calendars are not still; they are filled to the brim with activities, important dates, appointments of all kinds. Is it any wonder that we have trouble keeping our mind still for even a brief period? We hustle and bustle through our days accomplishing much and accomplishing nothing, and how do we define the difference? When the sun rises tomorrow morning, what will today leave behind as its legacy?

Psalm 46:10  Be still and know that I am God.

No, to be clear.  I am in no way suggesting that we hermitize ourselves, withdraw from the world, and sit in our easy chairs until the Lord’s return. We must remain busy and active. Yet the point is in all of our busy-ness, how much time do we really take to be still and spend time with our Heavenly Father? We don’t ignore relatives. We don’t ignore friends. We text and chat all day long. Why do we ignore the One who brings us peace, comfort, hope, and has the ability to still our troubled minds?

Psalm 46:10  Be still and know that I am God.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Teach us the value and show us the wonder of being still with you.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
