Going AWOL

1 Chronicles 16:11  Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Yesterday I did not write a devotional. You might say I got caught going AWOL (i.e., absent without leave). No, there really wasn’t a valid reason, other than my thoughts of late have been to close out this blog permanently due to low readership. But what I realize is that if I truly believe the LORD is the one who provides strength and encouragement to write (and I do), then it will be the LORD who sustains me. My priority should always be to provide Bible-based encouragement, not to concern myself with readership numbers.

That my Dear Readers is the same message he gives to you. The Lord has laid upon my heart the mission to encourage others through writing. The Lord has laid upon your heart other various missions. There are times when we all become discouraged, disheartened, feeling like there is not sufficient reason to plod along. Yet if we stop and think about it… our Heavenly Father IS the reason to continue in whatever tasks he asks us to pursue. And that is reason enough.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Forgive our weariness and thank you for strengthening our hearts. May we seek your face always and be faithful in the tasks you call us to do.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
