TREASURY

Write From My Heart

TREASURY place where things of great value are kept

Luke 6:43-45 (NLT)  A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs never grow on thornbushes, nor grapes on bramble bushes. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.

It is amazing (and not in a good way) how quickly discouragement, despair, hurt, anger, and even worries and concerns can weigh a person down. All of a sudden you look around and you see only the negative in every circumstance. When that happens—and it happens to all of us at various times and to varying degrees—the only thing that will remedy the situation is a heart transplant.

Luke 5:31-32 (NLT)  Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”

Yes, this is written in metaphorical language as an example, but the meaning is clear. When our hearts are corrupted by sin—even pesky sinful attitudes—we need the forgiveness we find in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior to cleanse us. His sacrificial gift of love clears the negativity and makes the way possible for hope, peace, comfort, kindness, and all good things to fill the treasury of our heart once again.

Psalm 51:10 (NIV)  Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
