Only One You

Dear Readers,

For the next six weeks we will embark on a slow stroll through the events leading up to the birth of Christ and the few days following. We will not cover every aspect of the Advent Story, but rather we will take time to read carefully and perhaps notice a few new things along the way. Our goal is deep thought, reflection, and introspection of our lives as a result of the wondrous birth of our Lord.

Each day we will look at only a few verses, or some days only a single verse. Notice the Who? What? Where? When? and How? that might apply to each passage. You might ask yourself why the text was important then? and why it is important now? My commentary will be noticeably brief; the goal, as noted above, is personal thought, reflection and introspection. Blessings to you as we journey through the Advent Season together.

Week 1/Day 3, Wednesday

Luke 1:14-15a  He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.

John, the cousin of Jesus, was created for a special purpose. He would be the one to pave the way for Christ’s ministry. To the honor and glory of God, John would faithfully carry out the duties and responsibilities given to him until the very day of his death. Though many would follow, there was only one John.

What you make of your life is what you choose. God has blessed you with talents and abilities and it is your choice to “use them or lose them,” as the old cliché goes. Though many will follow, there is only one you.

Prayer Suggestion:  Thank God for the talents and abilities he has given you. Choose to use them for his honor and glory.
