DEMONSTRATES

DEMONSTRATES  to show (feelings) plainly; prove

Romans 5:8 (NIV)  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Ponder this:  God created humans with the ability to think and reason for themselves. Other creatures have capacities for thinking and reasoning but these seem limited more in line with survival skills. Humans, however, were given a depth and scope of reasoning unlike other creatures that goes beyond survival skills into the realm of creativity and self-improvement or self-betterment if you will. We have the ability to create, invent, modify, build, and maintain. We also, unlike animals, have the ability to cheat, lie, deceive, and sin.

When you think about it, God could have created humans without the ability to reason or think for themselves. He could have refrained from giving us the ability to choose. But God did not create a world of mindless robots. His plan was to allow each one to willingly choose whether or not to love and serve him. Knowing this, God, in his infinite wisdom and mercy loved us so much that he created a solution to rescue us from our misuse of thinking and reasoning when we have gone awry.

God’s plan was simple—the sacrifice of a perfect unblemished lamb would cover the stains of sin, disobedience, and our failure to choose wisely. However, the cost was enormous—the cost was the life of God’s Only Begotten Son. Through the death of Christ we have salvation. Through the resurrection of Christ we have the blessed hope of eternal life. God clearly proved his love for us plainly when he gave up his Only Son. So the question comes, do the choices we make each day clearly demonstrate our love and gratitude for what God has done for us?
