GO

Write From My Heart

June 13, 2021

GO to move along; travel; proceed (Also: to have a regular place or position)

Psalm 122:1 (NIV)  I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”

Ponder this: Today is Sunday and it is a pleasure and joy to be able to once again go to church—a privilege not taken lightly in view of recent pandemic restrictions. And yes, the most common definition of go implies getting up off the couch and traveling to church. Yet you are familiar with my habit of finding little snippets perhaps not thought of before. The word go also carries the meaning of having a regular place or position (i.e., the socks go in the drawer) and what if we were to apply that meaning to Psalm 122:1? Do we view going to church as our regular place or position to be on Sundays—that there is no place else we would rather be? I wonder.
