DOMINION

Write From My Heart

June 14, 2021

DOMINION  rule or power to rule; sovereignty [i.e., supreme rule]

Psalm 22:27-28 (NIV) All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.

Ponder this: Today America celebrates Flag Day. Our flag represents the many freedoms enjoyed by American citizens including the freedom to choose to acknowledge and worship the Lord God Almighty, Creator of all that exists. When our flag is disrespected the freedoms we have become diminished. America was founded as “One Nation under God” and it is “in God we Trust.” Many Americans have given their lives to protect our freedom to worship God. When our flag is disrespected, so too are those who fought to preserve it. But as a Christian, I think there is something even deeper. Christians recognize that God reigns supreme above all earthly kings, presidents, or governmental authorities. Ultimately there will be a day when all earthly powers will answer to the LORD of all because He alone has supreme dominion. To most, the flag represents America and nothing more beyond that. To me, it represents the freedom I have in openly choosing to serve God—a freedom not always available in other countries—a freedom I do not take lightly.
