God Will Take Care of You

Psalm 91:4-5  He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day…

            Once again, Florida braces for hurricane season. This is not the first storm this year, nor will it likely be the last. And it isn’t just Florida, but the whole gulf coast that remains on watch throughout hurricane season. In addition, rains produce flooding up through our nation’s states. Of course, it isn’t only physical storms of weather that we face each day. Storms come in the form of health issues, personal issues, unemployment, financial issues, and a myriad of other causes.

            In times such as these, I often pick up an old hymnal and simply read the hymns as poetry. This seems to be such a week. For this week, I’ll be selecting hymns from Advent Christian Hymnal, ACGC Publishers, 1952. My prayer is that you will find peace, comfort, and encouragement to lift you through whatever storms you may be facing.

God Will Take Care of You (#219), C.D. Martin

Be not dismayed what e’er betide, God will take care of you;

            Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you.

Thro’ days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you;

            When dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you.

All you may need He will provide, God will take care of you;

            Nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you.

No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you;

            Lean, weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you.

God will take care of you, Thro’ ev’ry day, O’er all the way;

            He will take care of you, God will take care of you.

Graciously Heavenly Father,

            Physical storms, weather storms, and for some even mental storms at times seem  overwhelming to us. Thank you for the precious promise we find in scripture and for the hymn writers who remind us of your providential love and care no matter what situations we face.

            In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
