To Be a People of Prayer

Psalm 109:4b  …but I am a man of prayer.

Seven small words that speak volumes. From a Psalm of David, written while surrounded by wicked and deceitful people. A Psalm that reveals the frustrations of being encompassed by evil. In fact, many of David’s Psalms seem to be written out of anguish and distress. Our current world and even national situations leave us identifying with David’s frustrations, anguish, and distress. It’s getting harder to find truth and integrity.

Yet David’s confidence was always rightfully placed in the LORD God Almighty. He cried out to God knowing he would not be abandoned, his LORD would respond. David was a man of prayer—not just prayers of anguish—but prayers of praise for what the LORD has done and will do for all who trust in Him. And this is the simple lesson for us today. While all around we see troubles of various kinds, in the LORD, we have peace and assurance.

Psalm 115:12-13  The LORD remembers us and will bless us … he will bless those who fear the LORD—small and great alike.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your love and mercy. May we be a people of prayer knowing that you hear each word and will respond in your good timing.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen
