Quiet Contemplation - Day 40

Habakkuk 3:2 (NIV)
LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.

The book of Habakkuk is a book of both prophecy and judgment. The main message to Judah was to warn them the wicked would not prevail, and to remind them God is in control.
Today is a day we celebrate Independence Day. It was the Revolutionary War that allowed our nation to throw off the burden of monarchy and recognize the God-given inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. While governments may think they are in control, it is
Almighty God who has ultimate control. Wickedness will receive God’s wrath, but his mercy will come to those who trust in him.

Gracious Heavenly Father,
We see those around us whose actions do not honor you, but we know they will not prevail. We ask your forgiveness when we fail to remember that you are in control. We humbly thank you for your mercy.
In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Respectfully written and submitted by
