Psalm 25:4-5 (NLT)
Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.
Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day
long I put my hope in you.
The other day as I
opened my back door, I froze as I caught a glimpse of sudden movement in the rocks
nearby. It was just a lizard taking a sunbath. When I lived in Florida years
ago, I remember all the little green anoles lizards zipping around. Quite a
nuisance at times but they do keep the mosquito population down. Out here in
New Mexico, this lizard was light tan with the most amazing combination of
stripes and spots down it long body. The tail was unusually long, so I went to
my resource books and discovered that it most likely was the New Mexico
whiptail lizard.
That wasn’t my only
interesting site that day. As I walked across the lawn, I saw the tiniest pinkish-purple
flower in a miniature fern-like plant that was so small I actually had to bend
close to the ground to see it. It was a weed, of that I’m pretty sure. But
there was beauty in the teeny tiny flower that I had overlooked or quite literally
stepped over many times.
Many people think God
is distant. They may acknowledge him as Creator but feel he just doesn’t get
involved with the world, that he just sort of lets things go as they may. I
cannot support this line of thought. What I see everyday around me reminds me
that God is a God of details. Explore some of the follow scriptures as examples
of just how detail-oriented our God is:
- Genesis 1:1-2:2, The story of creation
- Genesis 6:13-16, schematics for Noah’s ark
- Exodus 35:4-40:33, schematics for the Tabernacle, its furnishings, priestly garments, and setup, usage and care
- Job 38:1-41:34, the Lord’s interaction with Job detailing to Job the Lord’s own creation
If this doesn’t satisfy you, then open your own eyes!
Look around you at the detail in plants, animals, clouds, night skies. Truly we
serve a God who knows every detail of our world and our lives. Which brings us
full circle back to today’s target scripture. In those moments when we feel
uncertain about our path in life, God is but a prayer away. We can put our hope
in him all day long! God will certainly hear our prayer and guide us in the path
of truth—the way we should go—the way that honors him.
Gracious Heavenly Father,
How amazing are the
details of your creation! When we question our purpose or path in life, you are
there, ready to guide us if we but turn to you. In you we place our hope all
day long!
In Christ’s name we
pray, Amen.
Respectfully written and submitted by
Dotty Willmon, Resurrection Christian—looking forward to the blessed
hope of Christ’s return!
