Audits & Resolutions - Day 3

 Write From My Heart / December 3, 2020 / Audits & Resolutions – Day 3

Question: Do I seek God as a last resort when I’ve tried everything else?

Psalm 31:14-15 (NIV) But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands…

Psalm 62:8 (NIV) Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

John 14:1 (NIV) Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me [Jesus Christ].

1 John 3:20 (NIV) For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.

By nature we are independent creatures. We like to do everything ourselves. I suppose it begins when we are in the very young learning stages of childhood. We don’t want help pouring that glass of milk—even though it spills on the table. We don’t want help tying our shoes—even though we trip because the laces are loose. Gradually we become a little more self-sufficient with daily tasks and this is a good thing. However the downside is that some of us become so stubborn later in life that we reject any help at all, and this is not always the best course of action.

God knows our hearts. He knows our struggles. He knows our failings. He knows our health issues. He knows everything! Trying to fix things on our own is futile. The only true solution is to trust our unfailing Heavenly Father for he knows what is best even when we cannot understand the present circumstances.

Resolution: Trust God more.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

We pour out our hearts to you, O Lord, for you know our circumstances. Quiet our troubled hearts and calm our fears. We place our trust in you for you truly know what is best.

In the name of Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior, Amen.
