Be the Best Blip Possible

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yeta no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Isaiah 55:9  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

This morning I was caught off guard by a tiny footnote I had never noticed before. In the Ecclesiastes verse, footnote a reads:  [a11 Or, also placed ignorance in the human heart so that…]

For me, that is the best descriptor possible. I am able to grasp that time for God does not operate on the scale that our human minds can fully comprehend. I know that the one Triune God—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—have always existed, still exist today, and will always exist in the future. Moreso, that God does not skip between time periods but is in all time the same Holy Triune Almighty God.

Seasons come. Seasons go. World trials and stresses come and go. Human life is but a tiny blip compared to eternity, but it is up to us to make it the best blip possible; for one day soon, when Christ comes again, we will receive the promise of understanding what it means to be with our Lord for all eternity. What a blessed day of rejoicing and thanksgiving that will be.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Thank you for allowing us the amount of understanding you trust us to handle. Thank you that there will be deeper understanding yet to come. Thank you for the promise of eternity with you made possible through salvation in Christ.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

Thanksgiving Blessings

On this special day, my prayer for all of my dear Readers is a prayer of Thankfulness for your support. Thank you to each one who takes the time to read devotionals posted on Write From My Heart. May you find encouragement and perhaps a little humor from time to time to brighten your day.

Today, I simply ask that you take time to thank your Heavenly Father for all he has so bountifully blessed you with in your life. Most of all, thank him for the gift of salvation through his only Son, Jesus Christ. May your day be blessed with Family and Friends!

1 Samuel 2:2  There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.

1 Chronicles 16:8-10  Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

We humbly come to you asking nothing but simply with hearts of gratitude and thankfulness for who You are and for all You have done for us. May your Holy Name be praised this Thanksgiving day and all days henceforth.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

Trust in the Lord

Jeremiah 17:7  Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.

Most of us would be in pretty rough shape if left to our own understanding. We might be able to draw on past experiences for guidance or learn from the experiences of others. Those ideas work at least to some extent. However, the Christian life is blessed because we have confidence in someone who doesn’t just know our past but He also knows our current circumstances as well as our future. Our God is not simply the God of possibilities, but He is the God of all possible possibilities. Let that sink in for just a moment.

So my choice (and yours) is this: Would I rather rely on my own knowledge or trust the omniscient God of all possible possibilities?

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Forgive our arrogance of thinking we can do things on our own. We acknowledge your omniscience and fully place our trust in you. Thank you for caring so deeply for each one of us. Thank you for the guidance and direction we read in your Word and receive each day from your Holy Spirit.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
