People of Prayer Have Peace

In my morning prayer, I asked my Heavenly Father, “How can I encourage my family and friends not to be stressed out about tomorrow’s elections? What can I write? What message can I convey?” The answer I felt in my heart seemed to be; simply remind us of what has already been told to us in God’s Word. We already have the answer.

Philippians 4:6-7  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Every American citizen has the responsibility to vote according to their own conscience. Research well. Pray for God’s will for our Nation. Vote responsibly. Have peace. People of prayer have the peace of God which the world does not, nor cannot, understand. It is a deep abiding peace that no matter what the outcome of tomorrow’s elections might be; God is still in control.

If you want to affect change in our Nation; pray.

Acts 2:42  They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Romans 12:12  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Ephesians 6:18b …be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Colossians 4:2  Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

James 5:16b  The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

We pray for many things. Yet sometimes I feel like the only time we pray for our Nation is in a last-ditch effort just prior to an election. Forgive us. Teach us to be people of prayer for our Nation on a daily basis. Guide our elections and whatever the outcome, may we continue to be a people of prayer. Grant to us your peace and remind us of your presence.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
