Finding the One Who Is Never Lost

Jeremiah 29:13  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

There is a saying that has been used in various forms in church bulletins and signage and it goes something like this:  If you can’t find God, He isn’t the one who is lost.

God is always present even when we do not feel Him in our life. This goes along with the theme of being too busy with our own lives to realize we have drifted away from our Heavenly Father until some troubling event shakes us awake. Then we wonder where God is. The fact is that God is where he has always been…closer than our next whispered prayer.

The blunt truth of the matter is that God never steps away; we do.

Ecclesiastes 7:29  This only have I found: God created mankind upright, but they have gone in search of many schemes.

Jeremiah 15:6  You have rejected me, declares the LORD. You keep on backsliding.

The most blessed news is the promise we find in Jeremiah and also in the words of Christ.

Jeremiah 29:13  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

John 6:37b  …and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

The times when we feel the most lost are times we need to realize how far we have drifted from you. Forgive our self-centered and self-motivated wanderings and draw us back to you. Show us how to take the time to notice your presence in every aspect of your amazing creation. Grant to us the peace that comes from seeking you with our whole heart.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
