1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
Isaiah 7:9b If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.
There is a popular saying which has
been found on posters and adapted in music lyrics, and to the best of my memory
it states: When God is all you have; God is all you need.
God is fully aware of the decline of morality in our world. God is fully aware of the corruption caused by self-centeredness and greed. God is fully aware of the plight of those who are destitute, poor, and needy. God is fully aware of the advances of diseases destroying lives both mentally and physically. God is fully aware of families torn apart by either death or self-centered choices. God is fully aware of corruption in government leadership. God is fully aware of devastation caused by natural disasters (e.g., fire, flood, tornado, hurricane, etc.). God is fully aware of those whose lives struggle to make ends meet and provide for their families. God is fully aware of those in countries whose lives have been devastated by war, who are captured, tortured, or murdered. God is fully aware of the evil caused by gangs who kill, maim, and distribute deadly drugs within our own Nation’s borders.
In our arrogance, we think, If God knows all this, why doesn’t he do something about it?
He did!
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
John 6:40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
Colossians 2:6-7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
STAND FIRM IN YOUR FAITH
Gracious Heavenly Father,
Forgive our arrogance of wanting immediate solutions. You have already provided the answer for eternity through your only Son, Jesus Christ. You are in control and in the end, it is You who will reign supreme. Those who stand firm in this faith will enter your Kingdom soon to come. All evil will be forever destroyed. No sorrow nor tear will exist. Give us the strength and courage to stand firm in our faith.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
