Do Good

Galatians 6:9-10  So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith.

Luke 6:45  The good person out of the good treasury of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury produces evil, for his mouth speaks from what fills his heart.

Proverbs 3:27  Do not withhold good from those who need it, when you have the ability to help.

When used as a verb transitive to modify an object, our little two-letter verb do indicates the work or actions—those things having proper qualities, beneficial; producing favorable outcomes—which should be the treasury stored up in our heart and our central daily focus. And when we view that in the light of the three verses noted above; I am not sure any additional commentary is needed. We know the good we should do. However, just to make sure we erase all of our excuses, let’s take a quick overview of just the simple phrases listed in Titus 3:

·       subject to rulers and authorities

·       to be obedient

·       ready for every good work

·       intent on engaging in good works

·       do your best

·       make every effort

·       make sure they have what they need

·       greet those who love us in the faith

Today’s Prayer Suggestion: Ask for your Heavenly Father’s guidance in ways to do good for others this week and in the weeks to come. Ask forgiveness for ways in which you fall short. Thank Him for providing opportunities for you to grow in your faith and Christian walk with Him.
