The Grace of God

Dear Readers,

            Today we conclude Week 6, the final week  of our 6-week slow stroll through the events leading up to the birth of Christ and the few days following. We will not cover every aspect of the Advent Story, but rather we will take time to read carefully and perhaps notice a few new things along the way. Our goal is deep thought, reflection, and introspection of our lives as a result of the wondrous birth of our Lord.

            Each day we will look at only a few verses, or some days only a single verse. Notice the Who? What? Where? When? and How? that might apply to each passage. You might ask yourself why the text was important then? and why it is important now? My commentary will be noticeably brief; the goal, as noted above, is personal thought, reflection and introspection. Blessings to you and thank you for joining me on this journey through the Advent Season.

Week 6/Day 5, Friday

Luke 2:40  And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.

             God’s grace is unmerited love given to the undeserving. We cannot earn it. We cannot buy it. It is freely given to us by God at the expense of his only begotten Son. Other preachers, teachers, and biblical scholars often use the acronym:

GRACE = God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense

            As we conclude this Advent series, I thank you for following along with me on this journey through the Advent story. It is my hope that you have had moments of personal thought, reflections and introspection along the way. May the blessings of God’s Grace be with you all.

Prayer Suggestion:  Thank God for his provision of Grace through the gift of his Son, Jesus.
