Your Sins I Do Not Remember
Dear Readers:
In the past I have quoted scripture from the New International Version (NIV) and from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. This year, I will be trying out something new and will use the New English Translation (NET) version of the Bible as a standard for Write From My Heart devotionals. Once again, all scripture texts quoted will be NET unless otherwise noted. It is my hope that NET will provide the modern language preferred by most folk while still maintaining the true intent of scriptural interpretation from the original text. It is important to me not to rely on popular paraphrases available today, but rather to maintain the integrity of scriptures through the use of authorized translations. Thank you for your continued readership support.
This notice will be posted for the entire first week of transition from NIV to NET.
James 3:2 For we all stumble in many ways.
Romans 3:23 …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
We all make mistakes; most of us have regrets for actions and attitudes of the past. There may be lasting consequences but the sins are forgotten when we come to God. Through Christ, we have forgiveness—total, complete, irreversible, forgiveness—the past is remembered no longer. It is we ourselves who have difficulty letting go of past memories. It is we ourselves who tend to dredge up old wrongs and hurts.
My prayer for you this year is that you will trust God’s forgiveness through Christ. You may have some consequences to repair such as friendships, relationships, time needed in prayerful study of God’s Word; but trust that forgiveness means your heart is clean from this moment forward. Self-guilt has no place in your heart. Dredging up the past serves no positive purpose. Do not allow your past mistakes to cloud your future.
Isaiah 43:25 I, I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake; your sins I do not remember.
Today’s Prayer Suggestion: Bring to God all the past mistakes, sins, wrongful actions and attitudes that have a tendency to cloud your thoughts. This time, trust in God’s complete forgiveness through his Son, Jesus Christ, as you move forward.
