APPREHENSIVE

APPREHENSIVE anxious; uneasy; troubled by fears

Luke 21:25-28 (NIV) There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Ponder this: At the risk of being redundant, there is yet one more word bearing negative meaning that we should consider in this passage. Perhaps the worst part of being apprehensive is that it is a subtle yet ongoing sense of worry that nags at a person from the inside. It creeps in and if left unchecked begins to chip away at your sense of security and well-being. In some ways it is more insidious [e.g., sneaky, crafty] than actual fear. The wonderful news is that Christians have been provided with a means for conquering apprehension and anxiety.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

If you have not already done so, I strongly urge you to add these two verses to your spiritual toolbox for quick reference in the future.
