GREAT GLORY

Write From My Heart

May 22, 2021

GREAT much more than ordinary; to a high degree; intense

GLORY splendor; magnificence; grandeur; superiority

Luke 21:25-28 (NIV) There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Ponder this: A few days ago we spoke of glory and the reality that humans cannot truly comprehend the glory of God. We only catch little snippets of it when viewing the vastness of his creation. We know the glory of God was enough to change the physical appearance of Moses (see Exodus 34:29-35). We know that Christ is the radiance of God’s glory, that Christ is God the Son (see Hebrews 1:3). We are so dependent upon light and energy it is hard to imagine living in a world without a sun or moon or stars. And yet, that is the description of the Kingdom—there will be no ordinary light source, for Christ himself will provide our light (see Revelation 22:5). While all the nations are quaking with fear at the coming of the Lord, we—Christians who are alive and remain—will join the company of all the saints of all the ages past as they rise from their graves; and together we will see the Glory of Christ in all his radiance.
