FLOURISH

FLOURISH  to be at the peak of development

Psalm 92:12, 14-15 (NIV)  The righteous will flourish like a palm tree… They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

Ponder this: They say an author should know their target audience. I’m fairly certain most folk who read Write From My Heart devotionals find themselves in the senior and aging-senior categories. We look at a word like flourish and somehow find it quite incompatible with our various aches, pains, and creaky bones evidenced by our aging bodies. Yet flourishing is not always necessarily about style and flair. It also indicates the peak of development—something with which most of us can readily identify. No matter what our age or physical condition might be, we all still have the opportunity to bear fruit for God’s Kingdom through the wisdom of our age. Every word spoken to younger generations is an opportunity to bear fruit. Every prayer offered regarding younger generations is an opportunity to bear fruit. With the LORD as our Rock, each day is an opportunity to flourish.
