ARISE to get up; to come into being; to result or spring from something
Isaiah 60:1 (NIV) Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
Ponder this: Perhaps the most common thought concerning the word arise is getting up out of bed each morning. But I must confess, the older I get, the harder it becomes to “spring” from bed. However, when I consider the context of Isaiah 60:1, then I get the sense that we have become too complacent, self-satisfied, and perhaps a little too blasé in our lifestyle. Isaiah warns God’s people it is time to get up, wake up, and pay attention. How alert are we?
