PERPLEXITY

Write From My Heart

May 17, 2021

PERPLEXITY bewilderment; hopelessly confused

Luke 21:25-28 (NIV) There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Ponder this: We are warned of natural disasters and oddities taking place in the realm of the natural sciences as we approach the last days prior to Christ’s return. Whatever these events may be, we know their significance will lead to utter confusion throughout the world. We catch glimpses of such oddities even now with solar flares affecting earth’s magnetic fields, increase in the quantity and magnitude of earthquakes and seismic events, unusual weather patterns, and eruption of volcanoes down in the depths of our oceans. In our feebleness we somehow get the idea that we can control what happens to the earth. Political systems feed on creating legislation as if they honestly believe they have the power to control the earth and its functions. It is God who created the heavens and the earth by his spoken word, and it will be God who brings it to an end when he cleanses it from sin on that Final Day.

Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Psalm 33:6-9  By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

2 Peter 3: 3, 5, 10, 12  First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. … But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and with water. … but the day of the Lord will come like a thief [unexpectedly]. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. … That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.

Dear Friends, when God speaks the final word to his Son, Jesus Christ—when God gives him the command to return to earth to gather his faithful ones, I want to be one of those gathered with the faithful servants. How about you? How ready are you for Christ to come?
